When is the deposit due by?
The non-refundable deposit is due by October 8th, 2023.
I paid my deposit, am I booked?
You are officially booked once you receive a welcome email from Socanomics.
Can I travel solo?
Sure! Meet some of your fellow Socanomics Tribe who are traveling solo as well.
Are these packages inclusive of airfare?
Roundtrip airfare is not included. All participants will be coming from many different cities at all different times so it creates more efficiency for you to book your flights.
Should I book my flight on my own?
Yes! You will be flying into Douglas–Charles Airport. The airport code for Dominica is DOM. Be mindful that for many airlines, there are 1-2 flights to Dominica a day. Travel there can be very economical. Use flight trackers for the best rates. If you have questions upon booking, we can help you choose the best options.
What if I need to arrive later, leave earlier, etc?
If you need to leave earlier or later this can be worked out with our team.
Do I need to participate in all workouts and activities?
All group activities and workouts are suggested but NOT mandatory. If you wish, you can opt-out of any of the tours and activities and plan your own adventure. Standard rates do apply. Outside of SOCANOMICS planned activities, you are responsible for reserving, booking, and transportation to and from any tours, excursions, meals, and such that are NOT included in our itinerary.
How many people will be on the retreat?
This is an intimate group of 10 guests including your retreat hosts
What is the age group of people going on the wellness retreat?
We'll have ages ranging from about 35-60 years old.
How does the roommate situation work? Will Socanomics pair people up if you are solo, but don't mind a roomie?
Yes if you would like to travel solo but be in a double occupancy room, we'll place you with another beautiful guest. Please note this request in your registration form when making your deposit.
Can I bring someone?
Sure! Make sure they are booking a slot for the trip as well so we account for them! Try booking at the same time also. We suggest you both pay the deposit at the same time.
Are men welcome?
We are always open to being co-ed. Our Socanomics community just happens to be mostly a sisterhood collective. Husbands are welcome to come and support their queens in this divine feminine space. If they choose not to take the Socanomics classes, Standard rates do apply.
Is triple occupancy an option?
Doubles and solos are what is available to us. If triple becomes an option, we will notify guests. Please note, the rooms can sell out before then. Booking the double occupancy room while waiting will be your best assurance.
How flexible is it to change a name on the room? For example, if I book the double occupancy room with 'Jane Smith' and then she can't attend, can I swap the person?
It'll be an easy swap. If your double occupancy roommate can no longer attend, you can and should swap them with someone new. In the case that your roommates drops, your room will be considered a solo occupancy and you'll be charged the difference unless you do replace them with a new retreater.
We have family on the island, is there a pricing structure minus the lodging available for those that do not need lodging/ staying with family?
You will need to stay at Jungle Bay to be a part of this Retreat. The trip is designed to be immersive for the whole group. Most of our events do take place on the resort, which requires everyone to be a guest for the duration of the trip. In the future though, we will consider events that are open to general public.
Can I upgrade my room?
Sure! Let us know if you want to upgrade. They are based on availability.
Is alcohol part of the all-inclusive?
No, alcohol is not included in any of our packages, but is available for purchase at the hotel. We do provide you with one (1) complimentary bottle of wine.
Are all meals included?
Yes! Restaurant opening hours are from 7 am till about 9 pm. Breakfast is served from 7:00 am – 10:00 am, Lunch from 12 pm – 3:00 pm, and Dinner from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Snacks & drinks are available throughout the day and is included in the group package.
Is the hike hard? What do we bring?
The Jungle Bay team considers the hike to be moderate. We recommend wearing light, breathable shoes for our tropical climate such as trekking, running shoes, comfortable “amphibian” water shoes or hiking sandals with straps (e.g. Keen, Teva). Your shoes may get wet on some of the hikes; we therefore, suggest bringing at least 2 pairs of shoes you are comfortable hiking in. Also, note that shoes need to have good grips as paths and rocks can be slippery.
Where is the beach?
Scotts Head beach is located 8 minutes away and Champagne beach is 15 minutes away by driving.
Can I book my hotel on my own?
No, In order to be considered a confirmed traveler at our retreat, participate in events, receive discounts, etc you must book through us.
Is this for black women only?
We do design our platform for women of the Diaspora, however this experience as well as everything else we do is open and welcome to everyone!

How do I secure my spot on the retreat?
A $700 non-refundable down payment is needed to secure your booking. HERE
Final Balance is due Dec 1, 2024. You will receive all information regarding invoices, payment schedule and all travel inquiries.
What else do I need to travel?
You must have a valid passport that will NOT be within 6 months of expiration and you must be over the age of 21.
U.S. Citizens should be aware that countries can deny foreigners entry if they have been charged or convicted of a serious crime. For more information on entry requirements review the information on www.travel.state.gov or contact the consulate for the destinations you’re traveling to. It is your responsibility to provide the correct documents and failure to do so may result in being denied boarding for the flight. We are unable to refund unused flights, hotels, or add-ons because of denied boarding situations. What is included in the hotel's package?
The Wellness Retreat Package includes accommodations; all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner); daily activities program and entertainment; Government VAT: 10% on accommodation and 15% on all other package charges are included.
Do we need cash or other money?
ADDITIONAL CHARGES: Purchase of alcohol is your personal expense. We provide you with one complimetary bottle of wine. Also bring cash to tip. At most resort, the staff works for not a lot of money and provide a great service to our group. Consider enough cash for restaurant staff & cleaning staff at the resort, drivers, and boat captains.
